The Thinking Man’s News Grunt
April 11, 2007
As I came up through the ranks of TV news photographer, I always found that any given station or market had it’s wise sage. This is the kind of guy who would always be in the right place at the right time to get the picture, command the respect of all of his peers, and would likely be telling the desk what the story was before the reporter had figured it out. Conversant in wide ranging bodies of knowledge, these guys were towering, formative figures early in my career as a TV news photographer. I’d like to introduce you to one of those heroes of TV news. Meet writer, blogger, photojournalist, Stewart Pittman, AKA Lenslinger.
Look, there’s much love and admiration here and I’d love to write more about him. Problem is the more I write, the more inadequate my writing seems. He hammers out prolific prose on his blog, sharing lyrically crafted stories or “Pithy Epistles from the Thinking Man’s Photog” as he calls them. I can’t hold a candle to this man’s writing, the same is probably true about his shooting. I look forward to every one of his “warmed-over angst casseroles”.
